About the author: Josh Frost is a mathematics teacher and head of the mathematics department at Jonas Clarke Middle School in Lexington, Massachusetts. Since 1999, he has brought teams from both Massachusetts and New Hampshire to compete at 9 MATHCOUNTS national competitions. He is a recipient of the National Science Foundation's Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching and the Raytheon MathMovesU Heroes Award.
