amc 10 problem series question
senboy 4
I am currently in week 10 of intro to algebra, and i'm deciding on whether to do amc 10 problem series or intro to geo next. Since the amc 10 is soon, and i wanna aime qual, i'm thinking I should do the amc 10 problem series. And also if I do intro to geo first, i probably won't do amc 10 problem series after that (i'd start vol 1, then intermediate series). But if i do amc 10 PS, i'll probably just do intro to geo then vol 1 then intermeditae series. So in your guys opinions, what do you think i should do? amc 10 problem series or intro to geo?

Richard and Shreyas are arm wrestling against each other. They will play
rounds, and in each round, there is exactly one winner. If the same person wins in consecutive rounds, these rounds are considered part of the same “streak”. How many possible outcomes are there in which there are strictly more than
streaks? For example, if we denote Richard winning by
and Shreyas winning by
is one such outcome, with
streaks.

Minimum number of points

There are 18 teams in a football league. Each team plays against every other team twice in a season—once at home and once away. A win gives 3 points, a draw gives 1 point, and a loss gives 0 points. One team became the champion by earning more points than every other team. What is the minimum number of points this team could have?

(Ok I swear this one has more geometry than the last)
1.
Let P be the reflection of the point (6, 9) over the line 6x + 9y = 420. The sum of the coordinates of P can be expressed as a / b, where a and b are relatively prime positive integers. Find the average of a and b.
2.
Let d(n) be the number of diagonals in a regular n-gon. Find the average of d(4), d(5), … , d(63) to the nearest integer.
3.
A rectangle has length 5.5 and width 5. The maximum possible side length of an equilateral triangle that fits inside the rectangle can be expressed in the form sqrt(a - b(sqrt c)), where a, b, and c are positive integers and sqrt c is in reduced form. Find a + b + c.
4.
A 9x10x11 solid is made up of 990 unit cubes. Find the number of those unit cubes that a space diagonal of the solid passes through.
5.
10 urinals are in a row. In how many ways can the urinals be occupied, given that no two adjacent urinals can be occupied? Include the case where no urinals are occupied.
6.
Let ABCD be a tetrahedron with AB = CD = 42, BC = DA = 64, and AC = BD = 69. What is the larger quotient of the circumradius and inradius of ABCD, rounded to the nearest integer?
7.
What is the closest integer to 2(tan 84)? (The 84 is in degrees)
8.
Isosceles triangle ABC has AB = AC = 2 and BC = sqrt6 - sqrt2. Suppose that ABC is rotated about A until B reaches the location where C was at before the rotation, and this is repeated until ABC is back in its original position. How many rotations does it take to get back to the original position?
9.
A 4x4 grid is divided into 4 quadrants along its two lines of symmetry parallel to the grid lines, so each quadrant is 2x2. Suppose that the letters A, B, C, and D must appear exactly once in each row, column, and quadrant. Find the number of valid configurations of the grid.
10.
A program written using the C language uses a do-while loop to iterate through the positive integers from 1 to x^3 + x^2 + x + 1, inclusive, given an integer input x, after an initial half-second initialization process at startup before the iterations. (In the special case that x^3 + x^2 + x + 1 < 1, then the program will run exactly one iteration after the initialization process.) Suppose that every number gone through in the iteration takes 1/1000000 of a second to process. What is the maximum integer value of x such that the program runs for less than 1.25 minutes?
11.
A dog starts at vertex A of cube ABCDEFGH. One treat sits on every edge of the cube. The dog can only travel along edges of the cube, and if the dog re-walks across any edge that he has already walked across previously, then he will be zapped by his electric collar. Find the number of different paths that the dog can take to get 9 treats without being zapped.
12.
A plane, determined by selecting one point uniformly and at random from each of the three faces bordering a top vertex, slices through a 6 x 6 x 50 tower. Find the expected value of the volume of the section that falls off the tower.
13.
How many 3-digit positive integers are composite?
14. Let f(n) be the sum of the positive integer factors of n. Find the three-digit number n that yields the greatest possible value of f(n) / n.
15.
Find the last three digits of the sum of the first 69 positive perfect fifth powers.

Contests, or rather ranks?? Idk pls explain this
MURATA 10
Guys I've been doing some digging around these forums and have come across people mentioning things like AIME, Amo, Usamo, and things that seem really far out of my capabilities as a mathlete.
So i come to this community to ask for help.
WHAT are these “competitions”? “Ranks”? I have no idea.
(It would also help if you explain what I have to do to get into these hehe)
