USA AMC 10
The American Mathematics Competition (AMC) 10 was created when the AHSME split in 2000. Only students in tenth grade and below may take the test; 11th and 12th graders must take the more mathematically comprehensive AMC 12. The AMC 10 excludes advanced topics such as logarithms, trigonometry, and analytic geometry, as well as more involved problems which would generally be problems 23 through 25 on the AMC 12. Like its more difficult counterpart, the AMC 10 is graded on a 150-point scale. Correct answers receive 6 points, blank answers 1.5 points, and incorrect answers no points. A score of 120 (or placement in the top 1%) is necessary to advance to the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME).
