India has been participating in the International Mathematical Olympiad since 1989. The selection of the Indian team is a three-tier process: a state level exam in November - 300 from all over India sit for the next phase - Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO). 30 selected in INMO attend IMO Training Camp to select the Indian team and train them. For the whole year from the training camp upto the next training camp, the students are given postal coaching, and a few of these are selected to attend the camp again the following year.
