I'm excited, but it turns out that I'm leaving for CTY camp the day after it comes out. Since I want to enjoy it for as long as possible, and not finish it in a day, I'll probably just not read it until I come back. Too bad.
I didn't know it was 'official' that a main character would die, but with a war going on the book would be pretty unrealistic if nobody readers cared about died, so it's probably nearly a given.

Just pick up the book on the way and read it during camp. That's what I did with book 5. Except halfway through the camp, word spread and everyone asked if I could lend it.
My birthday happens to be July 17. It would be a great present.

If that means Harry Potter dies... well that's not allowed in Harry Potter style books Razz. BTW at CTY no doubt one of the random prizes they give from time to time will be a trip to buy the Harry Potter book.

What about Ron or Hermione? I think that would be kind of unlikely...
My guess is that a character like spoilers of book 5
Sirius
in the last book will be killed.

This person came by and told me the person casts a spell on Ron, and Ron tries to kill Hermionie, and Harry intervenes, but I don't believe it...but maybe it is, because hermionie is not "pure,"-referring to the title of the next book

And who will be the new Defense against Dark Arts teacher?? Lupin again?? Or Dumbledor's brother??
And what will happen to Lupin and Percy??

Agreed. Definitely. If anyone goes, it should be Ron.

I'll read it in a day, even though I'm not that into Harry Potter anymore.

Loyola Marymount University (or something like that). Los Angeles.
But I think it'd be torture for me to read it a little each day, only when I have spare time...and I've never been to CTY before so I don't know how much spare time I'm going to get, but I'd rather be at home, comfortable, being able to start and stop whenever I want.

i wonder have you guys noticed the connections between Snape and Sirius??
Sirius used to call Snape: Snivellus. And what he calls himself? Yes, Snuffels. They have been enemies, but perhaps Sirius felt a little guilty, so he named himself like that. Though he's already dead, but there must be more to happen between these two guys!

I will read the book because now I've read the first five of them, I have to find out the end now. I do hope though that the new book is better than HP 5, which I found quite boring (the actual plot starts at about page 500, and all the characters, especially Harry, Cho, Ron, are enervating and not acting logically).

I think Rowling said in an interview that an important person will die - but well, what does that mean? She said the same thing before book 4, and who died? That Cedric Diggory guy nobody really cared about until book 4... So I think it will be the same type of person this time.

Will any of you go to a release party? I think I will go to a midnight party at a bookstore on 16th/17th of July because I always wanted to do that but never could because I don't live in a big town (would have to stay with friends for the night about 150 km from here) and always had school on the next day - but I'm having my final exams right now and will move to Munich afterwards Very Happy .

The last book was released on the day before the German National Olympiad, and I didn't take it with me because I was afraid of not sleeping enough (I didn't know the book was so boring by then). Luckily Christian Reiher took the book with him and told me about the few interesting things in the first two hundred pages or so. Smile
