Wait, isn't there a little animation in the AOPS website that explains the Pythagorean Theorem? It's under all the line of words at the left. I think it explains it pretty clearly.

by the way, its relatively trivial to prove that with the equation of a circle and a unit circle.

Back to the Theorem. There's a proof on page 135 of the Introduction to Geometry book (2nd edition). It's sort of like mathboy101's proof, in a way. You don't even need to use sine and cosine (but they are too advanced for this forum, by the way.)

random proof(well... not really a proof) Plugging 90 in to the law of cosines for the angle gives us c^2=a^2+b^2. Short and sweet, but not really a proof.
