Regarding college essays, how important is it that the events talked about in the essay are fairly recent? I'm thinking about using an essay that talks about a specific event (involving myself) that occurred in kindergarten, and how it relates and is relevant to me now. I clearly link the event to the present, but I am worried that admissions officers will frown upon the fact that the event occurred so long ago. What do you think?

The date of the event is totally irrelevant. All that matters is how well you say what you want to say about it.
