Minimal example please!
When asking a question please include a minimal example

Often you need an answer to questions like "How do I ...?", "Why doesn't it work when...?", "Why do I get errors..."? It may be that the problem is something simple like leaving out a }, a typo or a clash of packages but for anyone else to see the problem you need post a sample document called a minimal example. This minimal example should be a short, but complete, LaTeX document. There is a very good description of such a minimal example at http://www.latex-einfuehrung.de/mini-en.html which I repeat (slightly edited) here:

Quote:
Creating an minimal example is a way of tracking down and fixing bugs, as well as of finding the cause of certain behaviour. Minimal examples must be as small and simple as possible, yet complete, i.e. they accord to the base structure of a LaTeX document and can be LaTeXed without further additions.

A minimal example should be complete and working,
  • so that you cannot accidentally omit information important to diagnosing the problem;
  • so that the person responding can just copy-and-paste the code to try it out.

A minimal example should be small,
  • so that responders does not have to concern themselves with long unnecessary lines of code;
  • because it will narrow down possible causes of misbehaviour;
  • because short examples are well suited for posting;
  • because many problems, such as missing brackets, faulty syntax, forgotten switches, etc. will easily be found in the process of creating it;
  • because short documents will help you not to lose track of what's going on.

Even beginners should have no problems creating minimal examples, since it only takes a little patience and common sense. In most cases, you will find the cause of your problems yourself, thereby making posts unnecessary.

You will also find more at How to make a “minimum example”.
