Articles. The ones most relevant for beginning students are What is Problem Solving?, Stop Making Stupid Mistakes, and Stupid Questions.
Books. You'll want to start with those in the Getting Started section.
Contests. MATHCOUNTS is the most appropriate for middle school students. The AMC-8 is also very good for middle schoolers, and very advanced middle school students should try the USAMTS.
Summer Programs. The Center for Talented Youth, EPGY, and MathPath all have programs for middle school students.
