Site Guides

Looking for a challenging geometry text? Preparing for MATHCOUNTS or the AMC exams? Check out Art of Problem Solving's Introduction to Geometry by Richard Rusczyk.

We offer three Site Guides for students. Students who are not yet ready for these levels of mathematical study, but are interested in problem solving, are encouraged to purchase Dr. George Lenchner's books here, and also visit the Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools homepage.

The Middle School Guide is for:

  • Students in 6th through 8th grades who enjoy math and problem solving.
  • Students preparing for MATHCOUNTS, the premier middle school contest in the United States.

The High School Guide is for:

  • High school students grades 9-11 just getting started in extracurricular mathematics.
  • Students preparing for the SAT, the AMC 10, the AMC 12, or local/state programs.

The Olympiad Guide is for:

  • High school students well-versed in basic problem solving mathematics (including topics outside of the normal calculus track such as number theory, recursion, and combinatorics).
  • Students preparing for the USA Mathematical Olympiad and International Mathematical Olympiad, and those confident they will score at least a 5 on the American Invitational Mathematics Exam.

Students should not stop their use of the site with the items on these Guides! Exploration is the heart of effective problem solving -- explore the site. There's far more material here than we could possibly fit in a Site Guide!

Art of Problem Solving's AIME A Problem Series starts on June 3. This class is designed for students preparing for the AIME, and will consist of discussion of problems from past exams, as well as strategies for taking the test. Click here to enroll today!
