The American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) focus on a curriculum that is both comprehensive and modern. The AMC exams are so well designed that some top universities now ask students for their AMC scores. Art of Problem Solving is a proud Contributor to the AMC.
The American Mathematics Contest 8 (AMC 8) challenges students to solve problems involving concepts in algebra, geometry, number theory, counting methods, probability, and other areas of basic math while testing students' abilities to apply those concepts.
The AMC 8 is a 25 question, 40 minute multiple choice test. Problems generallyincrease in difficulty as the exam progresses. Calculators are permitted. High scoring students are invited to take the more challengeing AMC 10.

The Art of Problem Solving Bookstore offers the following books that will help students prepare for the AMC 10. Art of Problem Solving textbooks have been used by top AMC participants for over 12 years.
Art of Problem Solving also offers a number of courses that help students gain a foothold on the curriculum tested by the AMC exams and improve their test scores. Our Introductory level classes and programs are designed for students who can already score well on the AMC 8 and wish to continue on to more challenging material. There are PreTests and PostTests for the subject classes that help students identify the needs of students. Interested students, parents, and teachers can view enrollment information to these courses here. AoPS also offers free classes called Math Jams sporadically throughout the year. Students participating in the AMC 8 might also consider participating in the very large MOEMS and MATHCOUNTS competitions.

of the nation's highest scoring AMC students, including numerous perfect scorers
