Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee

This is a spelling competition in the United States for students up through 8th grade. It consists of school, regional, state, and national competition, with usually one student advancing from each level of competition until it narrows down to around 250 contestants for nationals. Most of the bee is made up of oral competition, although it also has a written round at nationals.
