Talk:2008 AMC 12A Problems/Problem 24

From AoPSWiki

I thought that all AMC problems could be solved using pre-calculus methods? So why does this solution use calculus? Should we write another solution using non-calculus methods? Chenhsi 00:47, 27 February 2008 (EST)

It Uses AM-GM

This does use pre-calculus. It uses AM-GM. Calculus is just given as an alternative method. If you see, it says "Otherwise, by AM-GM" and goes on.
