University of Georgia Mathematics Tournament

From AoPSWiki

The University of Georgia Mathematics Tournament is an annual tournament hosted and run by students and faculty of the University of Georgia (UGA). Historically, it has occurred in late October, but the 2006–2007 tournament will occur in November. The competition is open to all high school students, and all students compete in the same division.

Format

The contest consists of individual ciphering, individual written test, and team rounds. In the ciphering round, ten points are given for each correctly solved problem, and there are two minutes permitted for each problem. The written test consists of twenty-five multiple choice questions, for which ninety minutes are allotted. Ten points are given for each correctly answered question, and two for each unanswered question. The team round consists of three questions worth fifty points each, and is forty-five minutes in duration.

2006–2007 Competition

The 2006–2007 tournament will occur on Saturday, November 18, 2006. The registration deadline is October 30. Registration costs are twenty-five dollars per team (a team consists of up to four students), plus five dollars for each chaperone over one. Individuals may also register, for a fee of ten dollars.
