Analytic number theory

Analytic number theory is the study of the properties of the integers using the tools of analysis.

While number theory is traditionally divided into "algebraic" and "analytic" number theory, these are simply different perspectives on the same subject. Some problems and solutions do not fall neatly into one category or the other.
