A '''number line''' is a pictoral representation of the [[real number]]s; it is typically represented as a [[line]] with tick marks, where each tick mark represents an [[integer]].  Often, the number line has the the integer [[zero]] in the middle, and [[positive]] numbers to the right and [[negative]] numbers to the left. Conceptually, the number line continues indefinitely. Often a [[perpendicular]] axis is used to represent [[imaginary number]]s.
