There are two divisions of competition (varsity and junior varsity), each with the same structure. There is a one-hour, twenty-question multiple choice test, followed by ten ciphering questions, each worth five points if solved in the first minute, or three points if solved in the second minute.  A school's team score is a weighted average (70% multiple choice and 30% ciphering) of the four highest multiple-choice scores and the four highest ciphering scores (not necessarily held by the same people).
